What differentiates a luxury escape and one that you will remember for a lifetime, is the detail - and Ben Huon is BIG on detail.

James, the extraordinary host, is the heart and soul behind the home. Going above and beyond to share his love and enthusiasm to every detail. From the museum worthy oil portraits, to the genuine antique furnishings, hand built staircases, manicured gardens and lawns, polished silverware and heated flooring throughout, the attention to the finer things is astounding. Bathrooms are even adorned with monogrammed towels, fluffy robes and a suite of Aesop skin care. Truly a property worthy of featuring in the likes of Architectural Digest or the Local Project.

This is an absolute haven for any self proclaimed foodie. The culinary expertise of James is apparent. From the charcuterie board with artisan deli meats paired with the finest cheeses to a chefs kitchen equipped with an AGA-esque range cooker, gourmet staples like Pepe Saya butter, Meredith dairy goats cheese, fresh eggs from the property and fine British crockery. This is the stuff of dreams for any home cook or chef alike.

The hospitality, warmth and grandeur of Ben Huon Manor is second to none and makes this a must stay for anyone! A very special place. I can’t wait to visit again soon.

The place itself is jaw dropping from the spacious rooms, the views and of course the atmosphere. The property was gorgeous and the tour provided by James at the start of the stay was so interesting and amazing. Everything was perfect and so well thought out. The pictures speak for itself, but the service on top of the environment is amazing. James did everything to ensure our stay was enjoyable and relaxing, from providing ample amounts of firewood to the welcoming cheese board. Located in the quiet and tranquil Robertson in the Southern Highlands, you have no reason to feel anything but relaxed! Every detail has been carefully thought out.

James Salmond is the most excellent host, explaining and touring the property with you when you first arrive…to the delicious and gourmet wine, cheeseboard, fresh eggs and more.

From the initial welcome, to the charcuterie board on arrival, (which was more of a buffet than anything else) to the amazing 'in-house' 4 course dinner on Saturday, to the crisp bed linen, to the lavish garden and sophisticated interiors.  Ben Huon Manor experience was so amazing!!!  The only thing that was disappointing, was that the weekend had to come to an end!!

Friends had mentioned a visit to the Southern Highlands as a great getaway for the weekend. Furthermore, if we could get a reservation at James Salmond’s “Ben Huon Manor”, then snap it up immediately!

We (a party of 6 people) arrived mid Friday afternoon, to a welcome that befits hospitality like nothing I have ever experienced before!  This establishment is run by James Salmond - he is the most perfect host!  He personally shows you around his home, demonstrating a warmth and generosity that continues from start to finish throughout our weekend.

We felt like we were visiting a manor house in the Cotswolds! It had all the original charm of the antiquities one sees in a beautiful home in old England!  The furnishings are perfectly suited to this home - but it’s also luxurious and extremely comfortable: king size beds, sumptuous white cotton sheets, monogramed bathrobes and towelling that are everything you desire in well controlled air conditioning (not too warm, not too cold) exemplified throughout this home.

However, it didn’t end there!

James is also a very accomplished chef: from the “grazing platter” provided on arrival, to the dinner “fit for royalty” on the Saturday night!  We had 4 courses that had a really unique theme: “apples and pears” - executed with aplomb! For the foodies, this will always be a one of those memorable nights in our dining experiences!

This was really one of the most outstanding recommendations we have had in a very long time!   In fact, SUBERB!
